Heating Installation Method for Rolling Bearings
When installing rolling bearings, an interference fit is generally required between the inner ring and the shaft. To facilitate installation and prevent bearing damage during the process, the heating installation method can be adopted.
1. The heating temperature should be controlled appropriately. If the temperature is too high, the bearing will be damaged; if the temperature is too low, the expansion of the ring will be insufficient, and the effect will not be significant. Generally, it should be controlled between 80~100℃. If heating exceeds 120℃, it will cause the bearing to temper, which may lead to reduced hardness and precision of the ring. After reaching the required temperature, the installation should be performed quickly to prevent cooling and installation difficulties.
2. During installation, apply certain pressure to press the inner ring tightly against the shoulder, and after cooling, use a very thin feeler gauge to check the gap between the inner ring end face and the shaft shoulder.
3. The heating method can use a constant temperature oven or an electric light bulb. Using a 50W electric light bulb to heat the bearing can ensure the heating temperature is around 100℃. Smaller bearings can be placed directly on the light bulb, while larger bearings can be placed in a conical hood of the light bulb. The conical hood can be adjusted up and down to adapt to heating different sizes of bearings within a certain range. The conical hood can prevent heat loss from the bulb and ensure uniform heating.
4. For larger bearings, to ensure heating uniformity, the hot oil heating method can also be used. Add an appropriate amount of transformer oil to the oil bath pot, heat the oil to 80~100℃, hang the bearing in the oil with a hook, ensure the entire bearing is immersed in the hot oil, maintain constant temperature for 5-10 minutes, and after the entire bearing is heated evenly, remove it and immediately install it on the shaft.
